Each Rutland region municipality is represented by our Board of Commissioners, plus ex-officio members from Rutland Economic Development Cooperation and Rutland Regional Chamber of Commerce. Municipalities select one person plus an alternate to represent their town at our board meetings. This ensures that each town gets an equal voice in regional decision making.
The board’s main jobs are to represent the interests of their municipality, approve town plans, ask questions, discuss solutions, and be engaged with local and regional planning processes. Board members are also key links that bring information, opportunities, and resources back to their communities.
The Board meets at 7:00 PM on the third Tuesday of each month (except in July, August, and December). The public is always welcome to come. Agendas and minutes are available here.
Transportation Advisory Council represents each of the 27 municipalities in the Rutland region and associated organizations. It’s a forum for local input to be funneled into regional decision making around transportation safety, quality, and connectivity for people and all the ways they get around.
Members are appointed by their local legislative body. The Transportation Council meets on the last Thursday of every month. All meetings are open to the public. Agendas and minutes are available here.
This is a subcommittee of the full board that reviews Act 250 (large scale development) and Section 248 (energy generation and telecommunications) applications. Recommendations are given to applicants and to the Regional Board.
